Putting Theory Into Practice at Good Morning Science Pt. 2

At Pueblo Science, we promote active learning because studies, like this one and this one, have shown that active learning increases engagement rates across all levels of education, making for a more effective approach to learning. Higher engagement rates are linked to not just greater retention, but also a greater understanding of the material being presented because it gives learners a chance to problem solve and think critically about what they’re doing. In other words, they’re actually learning, not just memorizing.

Our roster of experiments for Good Morning Science Pt. 2 has been designed to help your child put into practice what’s being taught in the classroom. We’ve also included a live animal meet and greet presented by Hands on Exotics because there’s no better way to learn about the animal kingdom than experiencing it firsthand!

Encouraging students to actively participate in their learning experience by getting their hands dirty at Good Morning Science Pt. 2 isn’t just a great way to reinforce what they’re learning right now. It also gives them the chance to revisit concepts that they may have forgotten over the summer, become more familiar with material that they didn’t quite understand in the previous grade, and get ahead by previewing what is coming up later in the school year or a few grades down the road.

Scroll through the tables below to see how each of the experiments at Good Morning Science Pt. 2 relates to the Ontario Ministry of Education’s science and technology curriculum. When you’re done, head over to the Good Morning Science Pt. 2 landing page for full event details and to register for the event. Be sure to take advantage of early bird pricing before it ends on October 4th!
